The Walkmen announced this morning that in celebration of their 10th anniversary, they will be performing shows in San Fran and Chicago in early 2012, along with releasing their debut album Everyone Who Pretended to Be Like Me Is Gone on limited edition vinyl for the first time. Plus, they're gearing up to head back into the studio to record the follow-up to Lisbon. All in all, an exciting news day for the Walkmen fans.

Be one of the first 50 to pre-order the vinyl and get a free Walkmen deer slipmat. Only 1000 copies were made so you better get on that.

The Walkmen Cover Cash

The Walkmen recently covered some songs that Johnny Cash covered (in the style of Cash) when they stopped by Seattle's KEXP radio station. The Walkmen hit up the station while on the road with the Fleet Foxes last month.

Also check out their cover of "The Auld Triangle."

The Walkmen Slay Letterman with "Juveniles"

We headed over to The Walkmen's Late Show taping yesterday afternoon and got to hear Paul Schaefer and the band jam out on Del Shannon after Dave smashed some fruit on his desk. All in all, it was an epic day and The Walkies totally crushed their performance.

Dave wiped all the fruit remnants off his desk with a vinyl copy of "Lisbon", and I had the band sign it so we could give it away.

Governor's Island Performance

Last night we got to jump on the ferry and head over to Governor's Island to see The Walkmen play with Grizzly Bear. It started to pour as soon as the band went into "Juveniles" to close their set. Big Ass Lens was on site to capture video footage of the beach-side show and you can get a preview with Angela Surf City below.
